Technological accompaniment
You can ask for a technological accompaniment by sending us an email to critical.switch@disroot.org
We refer to workshops as “acompañamiento tecnológico” in Spanish, which could translate to technological accompaniment. This is because we want to put the focus on the process, caring for the energies and the limitations of the people that conform a collective. This can be done in several ways but some are, adapting the content of the workshop to the needs of the organization, setting realistic goals to accomplish and transmit information in a structured and pedagogical manner.
Security
We want to help create a security culture in activits spaces.
Digital security only makes sense if it is understood as a collective responsibility, since you don’t only protect yourself but you also protect your friends
We want to accompany your collective in your learning to have safer practices and safer tools!
The needs of each collective may be different and therefore, the practices we could advise as well. However, here we provide a list of general topics that we could cultivate together:
- Introduction to the security culture, what it is and why it is necessary
- Password management (KeePassXC)
- Secure communication (Signal, DeltaChat, email encryption, etc.)
- Safe and anonymous navigation (Tor, VPNs)
- Non-commercial email providers (riseup, disroot, austitici, etc.)
- File sharing and encryption
Tools for organization
There are many free software fantastic tools that could facilitate the internal and external organization of your collective.
We understand that sometimes learning how these tools work is an initial barrier that can absorb a lot of energy, however, well-used can be quite effective.
We can accompany your collective to use tools to:
- Video-conferences (Jitsi)
- Internal communication (Signal, XMPP, DeltaChat, etc.)
- Collaborative calendars
- How to use gancio’s community agendas like calendari.cc for your events and all its perks
- Collaborative documents (pad.riseup, CryptPad)
- Forms and surveys
- Web pages (WordPress noblogs, autistici)
- Create posters with free software (Gimp, Inkscape, etc.)
- E-mail manager (Thunderbird)
- Password Manager ([KeePassXC](https://keepassxc.org /))
Decentralised social networks
The dependence of social movements on neoliberal social networks is quite worrying, to the extent that these platforms have completely transformed how we do activism, being always mediated by large technological companies.
The complicity of these companies with the genocide of the Palestinian people, the rise of fascism and the negative impact on mental health is more than obvious, so we urge all, especially groups and organizations, to inhabit and promote the use of other social networks outside corporate control, where we can generate network and community without being mediated by capital.
We are particularly interested in accompanying the various groups in this transition both in the political argument about why we should leave commercial social networks and in the most technical part about how it works and how to inhabit this new virtual space.
We join in the efforts of vamonosjuntas and La Furgo to collectively move to the libre and decentralized social networks that conform the fediverse.
