Intergalactic call for a Fediparty

We send a call into the infinite space for people and collectives to organize a 🎉 FEDIPARTY 🎉 in each territory. A fediparty is a decentralized concept that anyone can take to create community around the fediverse and fight corporate power.

What is a fediparty?

We have graped inspiration from the traditional GNU/Linux Install Party events, that release computers from commercial operative systems, to generate collective spaces where we can learn about social networks that are freer, more autonomous and out of corporate control.

A fediparty is a relaxed spaces, less technical and more political, where we understand that to choose other type of social networks is not a personal decision, but a political action.

What do you do at a party?

  • To help other people or groups to create an account in the fediverse and to understand collectively how it works and how to inhabit it.
  • Generate community, spawning a meeting place between people or groups who already are part of the fediverse, or that would like to be part, to strengthen our virtual networks outside of corporate social networks.
  • Learning and deepening about libre culture, free software and technological degrowth in a talk/debate format, ensuring that a practical and participatory space is maintained.

Recommendations

  • 🌮 Bring vegan food - ideally gluten-free - to help generate a pleasant and inclusive space.
  • 🏳️‍⚧️ 🏳️‍🌈 Make a round of presentations with pronouns at the beginning.

When to organize a fediparty?

Fediparties happen spontaneously, symbiotically and simultaneously at any place on Earth, they have no master, they belong to everyone and no one.

They may occur weekly, monthly or once a year, the important thing is to keep the flame alive so we keep conspiring against technocapitalism.

The first internacionally coordinated intergalactic call to bring this decentralised movement to life happened in February 2025, so we declare February to be the Fediverse’s month.

🔥 We hereby summon a collective effort each February month to organise a fedipary in each territory, to synchronize ourselves in a collective action that strengthens our inter-territorial bonds, to defy together corporate power and free ourselves from their nets, to weave our own, to our own pace, with love and in community.

We invite you to craft your own proposal, adapt it, modify it and distribute it freely!

🟢 What is a FEDIPARTY?

We want to generate pleasant spaces, less technical and more political, to encourage the use of the decentralized social networks and the principles of free culture. The alternative to capitalist and already recently brazenly fascist social networks (Instagram, X, Facebook, Youtube, etc.) is the FEDIVERSE, where we will find many free platforms alternative to commercial (Mastodon, PeerTube, Pixelfed, etc.).

If you have never heard of the “fediverse” you can read this introduction of the fediverse.

📣 There is a wonderful active initiative called “Let’s go together” (https://vamonosjuntas.org/) to collectively move to this precious federate universe called fediverse, we encourage you to join!

⚫ Why is it called “fediparty”?

The word comes from the combination of fediverse and party, because we know that for many to get out of commercial social networks (Instagram, X, Facebook, TikTok, Youtube, etc.) can feel a bit hard and we may think there is nothing on the other side of the corporate wall, just an abyss of loneliness and boredom… well, nothing could be further from the truth! We promise you that the fediverse is full of life, social movements, memes, debates and fun. Because learning together while we challenge the capitalist monopoly is our ✨ kind of party ✨
